Steel Cables

( 0 reviews)

  • Both Lewis Winch cables (the thicker cable (N1008) 4000 lb working load and the thinner cable 2000 lb working load (N1009), were originally designed for the aircraft industry, so they are manufactured to extremely high quality standards.
  • The cables are galvanized to prevent rust and corrosion. They both come with a safety hook, which means it has a spring-loaded latch to ensure that the hook does not come off the object you attached it to, until you are ready to release it.
  • This thinner cable is regularly used by ranchers and farmers for tensioning long barbed-wire fences. The trick is to anchor your Lewis Winch to a secure fence post and then spool out the cable. Attach the safety hook to the barbed-wire end, fire up your portable winch and pull until the barbed-wire has adequate tension, then staple it in place.
  • Many people also use this thinner cable to skid gear into areas inaccessible to vehicles and even off road atvs such as swamps, bogs, mud, deep snow, steep mountains or rough terrain in general.
  • There are hundreds of other uses for this longer lighter-duty cable. Boaters use it as an anchor winch and as a boat trailer part. Off road atv owners use it to get their quads out of trouble when stuck. But the possibilities are truly endless.
